Changes for bookings on Seabourne Online for parcels to or from the EU.

Do you ship parcels to or from the EU? And do you book your shipments via Seabourne online? Then the change in the customs system may have consequences for you.

As you may have heard, the European Union has started the roll-out of the Import Control System 2 (ICS2). A new customs security model for transporting parcels to or through the EU. What does that mean for you?

With the large volume of goods imported into the European Union, accounting for around 15% of world trade, the EU has decided to step up its security protocols with the ICS2, which is split into three phases.

The implementation of this concerns customs-mandated shipments that you book via Seabourne online. The ICS2 requires that your carrier, who transports packages for you to or from the EU, can provide all information about your goods in advance. This new customs security model also affects you. All documentation must be clear on all your goods that are sent to the EU and non-Union, or on goods you receive from third countries. These changes mainly concern the required HS codes and clear article descriptions.

Below you will find an overview of the mandatory fields as of September 4th when registering customs-mandated shipments. If you would like more information, we will be happy to help you or view the website of the European Union.
